For Nothing
For Nothing was my first attempt at werewolves, begun right after I finished Annette Curtis Klaus' "Blood and Chocolate". It has since been lost and re-started at least twice, though the names--"Cinder Gonzales" and "Lee"--have remained the same each time. However, this last draft, started on my home PC a year or so ago, is my favorite thus far, and one I'm determined to finish...someday...Cinder Gonzales is strange. Not only is she a werewolf, but she is an anomoly among her species; she is a werewolf who can shape-shift at any hour of any day, and not just during the full moon, like the rest of her kind. She is special, one of the last direct descendants of the original seven werewolves, and one of seven prophecied saviors of her species. And she couldn't care less.
The only thing that matters to Cinder is her little brother Kit, who, unlike her, is an outcast in their society due to his inabilty to shape-shift. But she is only sixteen years old, and unable to care for herself or Kit without aid from the purebloods of her line, so when they come calling on her to fulfill her prophecied duty, she agrees--but only on the condition that her brother be taken care of if anything happens to her. Because her duty may require the ultimate sacrifice...
